On the land
A working ranch menagerie in Clyde, Texas — guest-friendly, and treated as animals with work and rest of their own.
Guests are welcome to see the animals as part of a stay or a visit arranged in advance. Please keep a respectful distance, follow any guidance given on the day, and do not feed anyone unless you are invited to. These are not pets on display; they are the life of the ranch.
Cattle
The highland is the ranch’s namesake: shaggy, horned, and built for weather. Here they are kept as a miniature herd — still unmistakably highland, still a presence on the pasture, scaled to a place that also keeps gardens and glass.
Look, photograph from a polite distance, and let them keep their own counsel. They are not a backdrop; they are residents.
Companions
Smaller than a standard donkey, with the same long ears and steady temperament. They belong to the working picture of the ranch: companions on the land, not a carnival turn.
Guests often notice them first — they have a way of standing as if they have always been in the frame.
Flock
A small flock, kept as part of the ranch rather than as ornament. Wool, pasture, and the quiet of animals that move as a group — all of that is here, in miniature.
Watch them as you would any flock: without crowding, without fuss.
Dairy
Goats kept for milk. Their work shows up later in the conservatory, where goat milk soaps are among the goods. Seeing them on the ranch is a reminder that the shop is not a theme — it is downstream of actual animals.
Curious by nature; still, they are not to be chased or crowded.
Saddle
Horses kept for riding. They complete the working ranch: not a petting row, but animals with a job. Riding is not offered as a drop-in amusement on this site; if a ride is possible during your visit, that will be arranged directly.
Admire them as you would any horse — from the side of the fence, unless you are asked closer.
From the ranch
From time to time, miniature highlands, donkeys, sheep, milk goats, or riding horses raised here may be available for carefully chosen new homes. Availability varies with the season and the herd — we do not list inventory or prices on this site.
Guests
A stay, a conservatory afternoon, or a sitting on the land can include time with the animals — always by arrangement, always on their terms.
